HAY FEVER

Hay fever, sometimes referred to as allergic rhinitis, is a flu-like allergic reaction that causes symptoms such as congestion, runny nose, itchy eyes, and sneezing. This condition is usually triggered by a host of different allergens such as dust mites, pollen, or pet dander. The body identifies these allergens as harmful (even if they’re not) and can leave you feeling flu-like for days, even weeks, if not treated. At The White Room, we have developed therapeutic protocols designed to reduce the body’s allergic response to various allergens. The treatment plan is tailored to suit your specific allergies.

UNDERSTANDING HAY FEVER

There are typically two types of hay fever, which are listed as:

  • Seasonal allergic rhinitis: In this instance, hay fever symptoms only occur during specific seasons. This is usually in spring, summer, or early fall when pollen from plants and dust are more prevalent.
  • Perennial allergic rhinitis: Some hay fever symptoms occur year-round and happen when the individual is exposed to allergens in their immediate environment. Common causes include pet dander, mould in the home or workspace, and dust mites. In addition to the regular flu-like symptoms, you may also experience an itchy throat and sinus pressure that doesn’t clear up on its own.
